SPOTLIGHT ON NEW BUSINESS: Mexican restaurant and tack shop join local lineup | New

A few new businesses opened in Tahlequah this summer, including a saddlery and a Mexican restaurant.

Located at the south end of town, the horse is CC’z All Things Western’s main fare. Owner Shawne Collins said she saw a need for these kinds of supplies and acted on them.

“I decided to open CC’z because I had to drive five hours to the tack shop that I used to use when I lived in Arkansas just to get quality gear,” Collins said.

Collins said her store also sells 1st Phorm supplements.

Employee Andrea Serrano said CC’z opened June 11 and expanded its selection “slowly,” adding things like boots and apparel.

“As soon as the weather gets colder, [Collins] wants to gather musicians and have singing on deck,” Serrano said. “She wants an atmosphere where people can just hang out.”

A new restaurant, Hacienda Vieja, opened on June 27. Manager Arnulfo Cobarruvia said the place serves authentic Mexican food and a bit of Tex-Mex.

Cobarruvia said Hacienda Vieja is linked to two other Mexican restaurants in town, El Molcajete and Las Maracas, but more so with the former.

“While building this restaurant, we had good business there and we had people asking for a nice place with more space,” Cobarruvia said.

Party rooms have also been requested, he said.

“People here in Tahlequah are very supportive of us, so we built this bigger place to say thank you to everyone with a new building,” Cobarruvia said.

Cobarruvia said business so far has been “very good”, but the restaurant is awaiting its liquor license to serve alcoholic beverages.

“It’s coming soon, maybe in a week,” Cobarruvia said.

New venture Town Creek Boutique was contacted for comment but did not respond by press time.
