Eclectic
Shopping in Merrick Park this weekend? Don’t rush home.
There is a new restaurant where you can put your bags down and stay for a while.
The main attraction of Ecléctico, in addition to its warm and vibrant atmosphere (literally – there are fire shows on weekends), is the extensive selection of over 200 mezcals and tequilas.
Solids too? The ready-made menu consists of Mexican staples, as well as globally inspired Latin tapas.
Think street tacos with confit pork shoulder; a “hipster” tostada, with guacamole, heirloom tomatoes, crispy quinoa and avocado mousse; chicharrones with crispy pork belly, lime and green onion; and vegan “chorizo” enchiladas, topped with salsa roja and baby cilantro.
The dining room is well grammable, covered in hand-painted floor-to-ceiling murals by local artist Chady Elias. At the center of the action is the aforementioned full bar ready for your margarita order (or two).
