DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Various firefighters responded to a fire at the Abarrotes Carrillo Mexican grocery store and restaurant on Warren & 3rd St. in Davenport on Saturday night.

The fire broke out around 9:20 p.m., according to a statement. Six fire engines and a command vehicle responded, for a total of 19 firefighters. Thick gray smoke was visible throughout downtown Davenport and large flames erupted from the top floor of the restaurant. Firefighters say this is where the smoke seemed to be coming from, as the second floor was a residence.

Firefighters said they attacked the blaze from inside as they searched for someone inside, but everyone got through when firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.

“The building suffered severe fire, smoke and water damage,” said Lt. Zach Soliz.

The Carrillo family posted on Facebook on Saturday evening: “Thank you very much to the Davenport community for being so quick to contact us. Your support means everything to us. At the moment we will be closed until further notice due to fire, we’ll keep you posted once everything is back up and running.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A GoFundMe was launched for the restaurant to help it rebuild. You can find it here.
