Fun Mexican Restaurant in Schaumburg with Tasty Birria Tacos | Chicago’s Kitchen King

I was crossing Schaumburg with my wife. I wanted to try something different and new. I had heard about this restaurant several months ago but never had time to go until now.

The name of this restaurant is Fat Rosie is in Schaumburg.

When driving, the exterior almost looks carnivalesque. There are bright circus colors throughout the exterior. I could also hear Mexican music playing on speakers. I went there on a Saturday and it was absolutely packed.

I was almost going to drive off as I’m not one for large crowds. I walked in and it seemed like there were a lot of people all over the restaurant. I immediately sat down at my table with my wife.

Our Latina server was extremely friendly and approached our table. I didn’t order any entrees. I enjoyed the free tortilla chips and salsa. The tortilla chips had a slight taste of oil but they were still very tasty.

I placed an order for their Birria Tacos and my wife ordered a burrito. I also ordered their Elote corn appetizer. As I waited for my food, I watched the people. The theme of this restaurant is what I would call a Mexican style chili restaurant.

The food I feel is more authentic than typical chain restaurants like Chilies or a TGI Fridays restaurant. Several birthdays were celebrated. Many other customers received a sombrero while the waiters sang happy birthday.

I would say it was a madhouse inside but our server did a really good job giving us good service. My main entrees have arrived. The Birria Tacos were absolutely delicious with the consommé. Had three tiny tacos which were my only complaint about portion size.

My wife really enjoyed her burrito and said it was very good. The Mexican rice that came with the dish lacked flavor.

I also ordered their churros and they were absolutely fantastic. I would definitely say order them if you visit here.

The bill came to nearly $80 for just two small appetizers and churros. I thought it was quite expensive for what we got.

I might come back again because I thought the quality of the food was very good, but just small portions.

I rate Fat Rosies 6 out of 10.
