Agave Bandido, a Mexican-inspired restaurant and tequila bar, is the latest dining and entertainment venue announced for downtown Waterside Place at Lakewood Ranch.

Planned is a 4,000 square foot restaurant with an indoor bar, offering over 250 tequilas and mezcals. Additionally, there would be a 2,000 square foot patio with a separate outdoor bar overlooking the mile-long Kingfisher Lake.

Proposed opening date: end of 2022.

“Our goal has always been to expand into high-demand suburban areas, which may have minimal hip locations for restaurants and nightlife,” Mathew Baum, president of Wolverine Management, said in a press release.

“People want an exciting dining experience without driving half an hour around town. Agave Bandido’s cuisine and atmosphere will provide those vibrant downtown elements close to home,” Baum said.

The Lakewood Ranch Agave Bandido would be the company’s second location. The first is in Pembroke Pines.

“What excites us most about Lakewood Ranch is its strong sense of community and focus on events and lifestyle, which we are passionate about. Waterside Place is the perfect place to our fun and energetic brand,” COO Matt Faul said in the press release.

Agave Bandido would offer guests handmade cocktails and an extensive menu of dishes prepared daily with fresh ingredients. The restaurant will feature many of the same design aesthetics as its flagship Pembroke Pines location, including eye-catching murals and decor.

“The goal is to transform Waterside Place into a regional dining destination where residents and visitors can enjoy a wide range of dining experiences,” said Kirk Boylston, president of Lakewood Ranch Commercial, in the press release.

Waterside Village is slated for over 5,000 homes for sale and rent in a variety of neighborhoods ranging from $280,000 to over $2 million, and is located in the Sarasota County portion of Lakewood Ranch.

All neighborhoods are connected to Waterside Place by footpaths and many homes will also be served by water taxis to downtown.

Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, the developer of Lakewood Ranch, opened Waterside Place in 2018. The town center sits on a 36-acre peninsula.

Good Liquid Brewing Company opened a brewery and restaurant in Waterside Place in December.

Kore, an Asian-inspired restaurant offering Korean barbecue, Osteria 500, an Italian restaurant, and Forked at Waterside, are also announced for downtown.
